iPass Goes Underground with Paris Metro Wi-Fi
-- -

Travelers often have to scurry to finish email messages or look up information before heading into train stations, but for those who've embarked on a journey around Paris, there's no need to try and seek out Wi-Fi cafés and hotel lobbies before from one station to the next. Commuters and business travelers alike now have access to wireless Internet at Paris Metro and Réseau Express Régional (RER) rail stations, with over 70 hotspots in and around Paris, covering both the overground trains as well as the underground stations.

The Metro is the most heavily used train network in the country—transporting about 6 million people per day—and includes such busy stations as La Défense, Etoile, Aubervilliers, Châtelet-les-Halles, Gare de Lyon and Nation. Not only are the stations used to speed from one side of the formidable city to the other, but travelers can also revel in the Art Nouveau entrances created by architect Hector Guimard in the late 1800s. Inside, many of the stations illuminate the history of the "Belle Époque" era, such as the "Le Train Bleu" restaurant at Gare de Lyon, which has been serving commuters since 1901. Traveling by bus instead of train? Pas de problem: the central bus route linking Paris from north to south is also part of the iPass wireless network. No matter whether you're leisurely strolling across a platform, plotting out another museum visit by tapping away at your handheld device, or rushing to a business meeting that's clear across the City of Lights, iPass can keep you connected and in a Francophile mood.
