Rich in culture and known for remarkable landscapes, Spain is high on many travelers' lists of "must see" locations. Those who are fortunate enough to have business in the country may want to add on a few days to the trip to take in the diversity of nature, landmarks and cuisine which are the hallmark of Spain.
Whether for religious or political reasons, or simply by virtue of its location within Europe, Spain has been influenced by a number of cultures and religions—just head to Granada and you'll see the imprint left as a result of decades of Muslim rule in this region. The result of this rich cultural diversity is striking architecture, art, music and film.
As for the cuisine, foodies from around the world flock to Spain for its array of seafood dishes, wine, cheese and spices. Each region has its own distinctive cuisine, so a traveler could happily eat their way across the country sampling paella in Valencia or Roncal cheeses in Navarra. Then there's the signature "jamón serrano" (cured ham) found in Teruel, which is attracting much attention from gourmet chefs in the US.
Not only is the food world renowned, but also the numerous festivals and sporting events—Pamplona's Running of the Bulls, bull fights, fútbol games, summer fairs and year round festivals—are among the many events worthy of attending.
And if you're traveling for business, you're not among the few. Spain attracts major events such as the GSMA Mobile World Congress, held this year in Barcelona, and other business-focused conventions. Economically, the country is the fifth largest in Europe and has created more than half of all the new jobs in the European Union for the first five years of this decade, according to the OECD—an international organization that tracks economic trends.
Barcelona, in particular, has become a major economic center and attracts hoards of business travelers every year. For added appeal, it doesn't hurt that there are seven beaches in the city, and the nightlife is always lively.
No matter what brings you to the country or where you venture to, you can be sure that a Wi-Fi connection is never very far away. Check out the Canary Islands, Andalucía, Catalonia, Madrid or the many other regions of Spain, and check in with loved ones all along the way. iPass will keep you connected—from the Iberostar Hotel at Playa Blanca to numerous Starbucks locations in Madrid, to the major convention centers in Monserrat.
To capture the beauty of the country, bring your camera; but to rave about the sights and sounds to those back home, just pack your laptop.
